About the role

Apple Valley News Now is seeking an innovative storyteller interested in anchoring local newscasts. This position is located at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts
• Develop story ideas; shoot, edit and write local news stories for TV & digital platforms
• Demonstrate editorial judgment using knowledge of journalism ethics and libel laws
• Produce newscasts when needed & other roles as assigned by news director
• Enterprise compelling stories for newscasts, website and other platforms
• Collaborate with co-workers on the best way to present/report stories

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• Ability to edit using Adobe Premier preferred but not required
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
• Ability to work under extreme pressure and meet deadlines every day
• Ability to lift and carry 15 pounds

Qualifications

• Preferred degree in journalism, communications or equivalent field
