About the role
The Victoria Television Group, a Morgan Murphy Media company, has an immediate opening for a Morning Meteorologist/MSJ at KAVU-TV.
Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate, engaging forecasts on-air
- Create strong weather content for CrossroadsToday.com, the app, and social platforms
- Collaborate with a close-knit newsroom in the Crossroads, just a short drive from Houston, Austin, and Corpus Christi
- Owning the weekday morning weather, tracking everything from daily heat and storms to severe weather and breaking coverage with calm, clear communication viewers can trust
- Create smart, shareable weather content for CrossroadsToday.com, the app, and social, explaining not just what’s happening, but what it means for school drop-offs, commutes, workdays, and weekend plans
Requirements
- A strong communicator and self-starter who thrives in a deadline-driven environment
- Can juggle multiple priorities and enjoys engaging with viewers on platforms like Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram
- Basic Adobe Photoshop skills are a plus
- A bachelor’s degree in meteorology, broadcast journalism, or a related field is preferred
- Previous newsroom/on-air experience is encouraged
- Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Chartbeat, or CrowdTangle is helpful
