About the role
The StrongStart Reading Program seeks mentors and Summer VISTAs to enhance its successful reading program for 1-3 graders not reading on grade level. Summer VISTAs will also run a Summer Ornithology Program within the Youth Entrepreneurship Club.
Responsibilities
- Implement a Summer Ornithology Program
- Expose youth to the world of birds and their role in the ecosystem
- Expand mentor, business, and non-profit support databases
- Attend community meetings
- Plan recruitment efforts for mentors
- Attend workshops on leadership, fund raising/grant writing, team building, and ornithology curriculum implementation
Requirements
- Experience working in low to moderate income neighborhoods and underperforming schools
Qualifications
College graduate, minimum age 18, open to working at another job during off hours, able to attend school during off hours, car recommended.
