About the role

Opus Montessori School is seeking an experienced and credentialed Primary Montessori Teacher to join our team. We are a nonprofit Montessori program dedicated to providing an authentic, child-centered environment where independence, curiosity, and confidence thrive. The ideal candidate is a skilled educator with strong classroom leadership and a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Lead an authentic Montessori Primary classroom following AMS or AMI standards
• Maintain excellent classroom management and a calm, structured learning environment
• Provide individualized lessons and support for children with diverse learning needs, including those on the Spectrum
• Observe, document, and guide each child’s development
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student growth
• Ensure compliance with all safety, reporting, and licensing requirements
• Uphold Opus Montessori’s mission, values, and commitment to high-quality early childhood education

Requirements

• AMS or AMI Montessori certification (Primary level)
• Minimum 2 years of Montessori Lead Teacher classroom experience
• Strong classroom management skills
• Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum
• Mandated Reporter Certification
• Food Handler Certification
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Current Gateways Registry membership/card

• Warm, patient, and confident teaching presence
• Strong communication skills with children, families, and colleagues
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission-driven school
• Commitment to Montessori principles and continuous professional growth
