About the role
The Monitor Technician performs standard work related to telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac observation and provides analysis of cardiac rhythms in compliance with all regulatory and hospital/system standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Performs standard work related to telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac observation.
- Provides analysis of cardiac rhythms in compliance with all regulatory and hospital/system standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
- Interprets, communicates and documents cardiac rhythms and other monitored parameters.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or 1-year relevant work experience.
- Successful completion of provided Hartford Hospital Arrhythmia recognition and interpretation training prior to completing orientation (ability to test out if prior experience).
- Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English.
Qualifications
- Basic Knowledge of ECG interpretation, medical/cardiac terminology preferred.
- Ability to maintain focus for long periods.
- Ability to work in an environment with high activity and multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with navigating all aspects of electronic monitor system.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills with attention to detail, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate level computer efficiency.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Strong ability to use skillful communication with members of the healthcare delivery team.
- Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organization and communication [verbal, written & listening] skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of care for age specific populations.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
