Monitor Technician
About the role
The Monitor Technician provides support to the patient care delivery team by observing the heart rhythms of patients who are receiving cardiac monitoring. The position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain alarm parameters established by the physician
- Notify the Registered Nurse of critical changes in patient cardiac rhythms (as per telemetry communication protocol for Centralized Telemetry)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of dysrhythmia recognition course within 30 days of hire
- AHA BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Cardiac monitor technician experience required
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire
