About the role

Performs various activities regarding electrocardiograms on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine or stress test machine.
• Reviews patient's record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
• Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
• Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.
• Runs a strip per department protocol.
• Maintains telemetry documentation of reported information.
• Notifies Biomed of any equipment problems.
• Assists in training new Monitor Techs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
• Completion of basic EKG examination if not already completed.
• Previous experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, or Monitor Tech Trainee (or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, or Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
