Molecular PCR Laboratory Technician - 2nd Shift

As an IDEXX Molecular PCR Laboratory Technician, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform molecular laboratory testing that helps serve professionals in the biomedical and life science fields across the United States. IDEXX BioAnalytics, Inc., a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., is a leader in diagnostic testing for both the biomedical and life science markets. The laboratory is based in Columbia, Missouri, and employs approximately 60 people.
Responsibilities
- Set up and run laboratory molecular tests and read the results per the laboratory’s SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Specialize in PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing, including:
- Samples homogenization
- Total nucleic acid extractions from a variety of sample types
- Molecular testing via real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)
- Using analyzers and other molecular diagnostic methods to detect the molecular presence of pathogens
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as appropriate.
- Work reliably and precisely with attention to detail.
- Meet the physical requirements of working in a lab, including standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
This is a laboratory role with potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
Requirements
- 4-year degree in a Science-related field; ideally in Molecular Biology (BA or MA) or strong coursework in Biology to include PCR experience.
- At least 1 year of experience performing PCR testing in a high-volume, high-throughput testing laboratory (entry-level candidates with relevant college coursework will be considered).
- Experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment.
- Ability to set up molecular reactions, specifically PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).
- General science background with analytical thinking and pipetting skills.
- Positive attitude, teamwork-oriented, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Reliable and dependable attendance.

Pay
Hourly rates starting at $22+/hour for entry-level, with pay rates of $24+/hour for candidates with more than 1 year of on-the-job experience. A $3/hour shift differential is offered for this role.
Schedule
Full-time (40 hr/wk) position with hours Monday-Friday, 11:30am - 8:00pm.
