About The Role
The Mold Manager will have overall responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating plant molding activities. The position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely production by identifying and developing present and future capacities with respect to manpower and equipment to ensure product requirements are met in the most cost efficient manner.
- Ensure schedules meet production plans and are executed effectively and on time.
- Determine the best molding process and maintain an organized system, optimize processes and methods to ensure maximum and steady output, increase efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Review mold designs based on customer specifications.
- Work with Engineering on tool designs in order to achieve optimum cycles and quality parts.
- Monitor the schedule of molds through the tool shop when repairs, preventive maintenance, and engineering changes are necessary.
- Monitor the tool shop on duration of all such repairs, preventive maintenance, and engineering changes.
- Work toward the elimination of scrap by properly evaluating the causes and developing and maintaining a comprehensive process ensuring required quality standards are met and adhered to.
- Ensure all departmental associates are trained and informed of all quality requirements, including the Quality Policy Statement.
- Develop and improve production processes, systems, and procedures to maintain and improve quality standards as well as minimize waste and inefficiencies.
- Direct employees on quality standards and aid the Quality department as needed.
- Develop and provide input on assembly requirements needed to determine the total labor and gross margin for a customer's order.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years progressive experience within the production management field
- Bachelors degree in related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of TS-16949
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding and tooling
- Leadership style: self-starter that can work with little direction
- Proficiency in and the ability to model and implement the following concepts: empowerment and teamwork; TPS leadership philosophy and human resources practices; kaizen; standardized work; PDCA and problem solving; 5S; quality improvement tools; JIT production tools including: Value Stream Mapping, lead-time reduction, set-up time reduction, process flow improvement, small lot production, heijunka, and Kanban
