About the role
Build, optimize, validate, and maintain high fidelity discrete event simulation (DES) models of manufacturing processes. Deploy and support use of modeling and simulation to the facility level. Analyze real world and simulated data. Conduct “what if” scenarios and identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks. Present findings, recommendations, and trade-offs to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline OR Master’s degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
- Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- Due to the nature of this work, the successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DOE ‘Q’ or equivalent DoD ‘TS’ clearance
- Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis for existing or proposed physical systems
- Experience with discrete event simulation tools (e.g. AFSIM, Arena, CMO, ExtendSim, FlexSim Simcenter, Simio, SIMULIA, Tecnomatix, etc.)
- Experience developing process flow diagrams and analyzing production systems
- Understanding of concepts and fundamentals related to Simulation Theory, Optimization, and Queueing
- Familiarity with production planning, supply chain modeling, or capacity analysis
- Shop floor manufacturing experience
- Experience identifying and implementing statistical methods (e.g. Regression Analysis, ANOVA, Factor Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Random Variables, Design of Experiments, etc.)
- Experience with statistical software (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SPSS, Stata, JMP, StatFit, Expertfit, Minitab, etc.)
- Experience with Business Analytics and data visualization products / dashboards / data connectors (e.g. Denodo, Power Query, Tableau, Python, Power BI, etc.)
- Proficiency writing code with a text-based programming language (e.g. C/C++, JAVA, Python, C#, etc.)
- Experience interfacing with databases, both SQL and NoSQL
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
- Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated success in a team environment
- Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- 4 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, simulation, or operations modeling
- Basic understanding of reading and writing text-based software
- Able to work in a high security environment
