Modeling & Simulation Analyst - PTOC
About the role
The Modeling and Simulation Analyst - PTOC operates, provides instruction, and maintains a variety of computer-based training for simulations/models in areas such as Maneuver (Infantry, Armor, Engineering), Aviation (rotary and fixed wing), Logistics, Fires (Artillery, Naval Surface Fires), and Military Intelligence Operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate, provide instruction, and maintain a variety of computer-based training for simulations/models.
- Research documents and extract factual data describing the composition of military forces in a model/simulation.
- Analyze a functional area (aviation, ground combat, command and control, combat service support, intelligence, and opposing forces) and identify strengths and weaknesses during a simulation-supported event.
- Edit doctrinal manuscripts, analyze problem areas, and postulate feasible solutions for implementation in simulation training events.
- Translate real-world or fictional enemy and friendly force structures into an exercise simulation database/batch file.
- Conduct pre-event tests and evaluations of supporting databases and parametric data.
- Attend conferences and meetings at home station and other off-site locations, providing recommendations and analysis of model/simulation employment.
- Participate in structured simulation training events/exercises and simulated rehearsals of operational plans/orders.
- Analyze the functional area and advise the response cell members on the best method of implementing a course of action given the strengths and weaknesses of the simulation.
- Train terminal operators and subordinate unit response cell officers (OIC).
- Conduct post-event critique and analysis using various after-action review tools/applications.
- Document the salient properties of the simulation being evaluated and their relevance to Marine Corps or Joint training.
- Assist government counterparts in the performance of their responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; four years of DoD modeling and simulation experience will serve in lieu of degree.
- Experience: Minimum five years operational experience in the functional area of Maneuver (Infantry, Armor, Engineering), Aviation (rotary and fixed wing), Logistics, Fires (Artillery, Naval Surface Fires), and Military Intelligence and methods of meeting training and readiness standards during computer-assisted exercises.
- Core Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with SharePoint and C2PC.
Qualifications
- Must be capable of understanding the effects of weapons systems whose capabilities are retained above the SECRET//NOFORN level.
- Must be qualified as an authorized company driver with a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
- Must have a Secret security clearance and complete a Personnel Security Investigation qualifying for at least the TS-SCI level and NATO level access.
Pay
$70,000-$170,000
Schedule
Requires an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends.

Special Position Notations
Requires 10% - 20% travel. Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
Security Clearance
A Secret security clearance is required for this position. This position also requires a completed Personnel Security Investigation that will qualify the incumbent to be eligible for access to at least the TS-SCI level, and the individual must be read-in for NATO level access.
