Model Based Systems Engineer
About the role
The Modeling, Analytics, and Simulation Sciences (MASS) Operation at NASIC is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer to join their engineering design team. This position involves working on digital architecture projects using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Responsibilities
- Develop authoritative engineering models contributing to national defense
- Collaborate with engineers and software developers to create and maintain complex system models
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, including with external contractors and government customers
- Communicate technical documentation and artifacts effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Use MBSE methodologies and tools like Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, and Enterprise Architect
- Analyze architecture and engineering data to solve complex problems and improve products and processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, or related technical field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of SysML for modeling architectures and system behaviors
- Proficiency with MBSE methodologies and tools
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain models, artifacts, and integrated datasets for complex systems and systems of systems
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to produce and present technical documentation and artifacts
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering field or related certifications (OCSMP Certifications, INCOSE CSEP, Project Management PMP)
- Knowledge of SysML 2.0
- Experience with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or other architecture frameworks
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (Java, C++, Python)
- Experience with aerospace/defense systems and processes
- Knowledge of modeling and simulation (M&S) tools and practices
