Model Based Systems Engineer

About the role

The Model Based Systems Engineer will contribute to a long-standing national security mission supporting a critical element of a major U.S. defense agency’s layered defense architecture. They will develop systems engineering products that enable the design and evolution of a large-scale, ground-based defensive capability used to help protect the United States.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of systems engineering products
• Support the design and evolution of a large-scale, ground-based defensive capability
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and organize work
• Engage with customers or stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions
• Plan and execute requirement verification through test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration

Requirements

• Active, in-scope Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, with progressively responsible experience in systems engineering (typically 5+ years at mid-level to 8+ years at senior level)
• Advanced understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and lifecycle concepts
• Hands-on experience with requirements decomposition, requirements management, and traceability (e.g., DOORS)
• Experience supporting requirement verification through test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration
• Ability to plan work independently, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and engage with customers or stakeholders

Qualifications

• Experience with requirement verification methods such as test execution or analysis
• Familiarity with complex ground-based defense systems
• Demonstrated ability in independent planning, organization, and working across functional teams
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
• Exposure to MBSE tools and practices
• Experience with Agile development approaches
• INCOSE or Systems Engineering certification
