About the role
The Model Based Systems Engineer will contribute to a long-standing national security mission supporting a critical element of a major U.S. defense agency’s layered defense architecture. They will develop systems engineering products that enable the design and evolution of a large-scale, ground-based defensive capability used to help protect the United States.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of systems engineering products
- Support the design and evolution of a large-scale, ground-based defensive capability
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and organize work
- Engage with customers or stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions
- Plan and execute requirement verification through test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration
Requirements
- Active, in-scope Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, with progressively responsible experience in systems engineering (typically 5+ years at mid-level to 8+ years at senior level)
- Advanced understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and lifecycle concepts
- Hands-on experience with requirements decomposition, requirements management, and traceability (e.g., DOORS)
- Experience supporting requirement verification through test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration
- Ability to plan work independently, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and engage with customers or stakeholders
Qualifications
- Experience with requirement verification methods such as test execution or analysis
- Familiarity with complex ground-based defense systems
- Demonstrated ability in independent planning, organization, and working across functional teams
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
- Exposure to MBSE tools and practices
- Experience with Agile development approaches
- INCOSE or Systems Engineering certification
