About the role

Provide independent review, governance oversight, and effective challenge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), statistical models, and AI/ML non-model tools used across Citi businesses. Lead end-to-end validation engagements, including scoping, methodology design, execution, and final conclusions, in accordance with Model Risk Management (MRM) policies and regulatory expectations. Design and implement comprehensive governance frameworks, policy procedures, and validation methodologies. Serve as the primary liaison with business Sponsors, Developers, Auditors, and Regulators, ensuring transparent communication of risk findings and remediation plans. Oversee deliverables of multiple validators and perform quality assurance reviews to ensure methodological rigor and regulatory compliance. Conduct forward-looking research on rapidly evolving AI technologies and develop adaptive validation guidelines and methodological frameworks for emerging AI/ML applications. Lead internal training, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to MRM policy development and regulatory reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform model validation support activities within an established governance framework, including applying documented procedures/standards and completing input data quality checks used for validation reports and testing documentation.
  • Execute quantitative testing, including preparing analysis-ready datasets, performing parameter testing, benchmark comparisons, stability testing, or other performance evaluation procedures, and documenting results in reports or draft summaries for review.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders during model review cycles, including business sponsors, developers, risk managers, to obtain required information and communicate validation observations and key results.
  • Apply statistical and analytical methods to evaluate model performance, including one or more of hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time-series or stability/back-testing, using Python or R (or a similar statistical programming language) and at least one of SQL or SAS.
  • Prepare written analytical reports and briefs that support communication with senior managers, internal/external auditors as applicable.
  • Maintain documentation and tracking artifacts, including organizing workpaper files, updating inventories/logs, to support validation recordkeeping and review readiness in accordance with established documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related quantitative occupation focusing on model performance validation and governance.

Benefits

Wage Range: $158,700.00 to $190,700.00
