Job Summary
As a Mod Center Machine Operator, you will be an essential part of the electrical panel operations team! You will operate and maintain a state-of-the-art Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Machining Center specifically designed for electrical panel enclosures and subpanels. You will use drawings/CAD models to machine parts made of metal, plastic and/or other materials to meet safety, quality and production requirements as well as other assigned duties.
Essential Functions
- Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, electrical drawings, etc.
- Wire enclosures according to blueprints, electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, etc.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function utilizing CAD software.
- Operate machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions.
- Make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product.
- Confirm ModCenter is running efficiently by verifying that work area is stocked with machining tools (end mills, drills, etc.), well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output.
- Inspect the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements (TPM).
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Communicate logistics issues that arise in the process of creating a part to Supervisor.
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma, GED, military equivalent and or 1-2 years-experience in CNC Machining preferred.
- Intermediate math skills and good spatial reasoning.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Some experience with: Hand tools, Power tools – including but not limited to: drills, jig saws, wireway/din rail cutters, grinders, knockout punches, band saws, deburring tool, and more.
- Computer skills to include but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, CAD Software, and more.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Lift 30lbs. frequently, and 70lbs. occasionally.
- Maneuver varying size enclosures, with the assistance of an overhead hoist, in excess of 100 lbs.
- Stand for long periods of time, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing ladders.
- Perform all required tasks in a safe manner.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
