About the Sessions

• Writing a Job-Winning Resume (1-hour session)

  Do you need help creating or fine-tuning your resume? This individual session assists applicants with preparing a basic or professional resume that reflects their skills, knowledge, and education relevant to the job they are seeking. Topics include:

  • What information to include on your resume
  • How to clearly present your skills and abilities
  • Different styles of resumes
  • Common mistakes made on a resume

  Applicants will receive one-on-one help with their resume and cover letter critique. Sessions are available in a face-to-face setting or virtually.

• How to Ace Your Interview (1-hour session)

  Does going on a job interview make you nervous? This individual session helps applicants prepare for their interview, including:

  • Preparation tips before the interview
  • Suggestions for the day of the interview
  • The do’s and don’ts during the interview

  Participants will engage in a mock interview to practice what they’ve learned. Sessions are available in a face-to-face setting or virtually.

Scheduling

Illinois Human Resources (IHR) will reach out to schedule the workshop. Two contact attempts will be made. If you are unavailable for both times, you will need to re-register for the workshop. Space is limited to accommodate other interested candidates.
