About the role

We are seeking a Mobility Technician to assist patients with general mobility tasks as assigned by clinical staff. This role plays a crucial part in supporting patient care and mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in performing mobility tasks, exercises, and functional activities as assigned by clinical staff.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, therapy, and physicians to aid patients with mobilization needs.
  • Transport patients, assist with lifting, and help patients move between beds and chairs.
  • Gather patient information prior to treatment sessions according to the Progressive Mobility Protocol (PMP) and document in EPIC.
  • Maintain equipment, ensure its proper functioning, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the interprofessional team and contribute to process improvements.
  • Document accurately and complete daily tasks efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 1 year of Patient Care Assistant/Nursing Assistant work experience in acute care hospital, long-term acute care hospital, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in therapy, e.g., PT/OT Rehab Technician, is preferred.
  • Pursuing professional medical licensure in an acute care setting is encouraged.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

  • Ability to function as a team member and respond to colleagues' needs for assistance.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and software.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.

Skills

  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of the Progressive Mobility Protocol (PMP).
