What you’ll do
- Review tasks, intelligence and weather information to prepare for missions
- Makes sure aircraft is preflighted and manned for every mission
- Maintains and operates aircraft and engine systems controls
- Conducts and supervises mission-specific training
- Performs in-flight refueling duties
Training & Education
- Basic Military Training: 7.5 weeks
- Military Training Location: Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX
- Age Requirement: 17–42 years old, U.S. citizen, ASVAB score of 65 or higher (for high school students, start application at end of junior year)
- Required Military Training: 60 Mechanical (M)
- Knowledge Required: Electrical, arithmetic, mechanical, navigation, communications, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Physical Qualification: Must maintain physical qualification for aircrew duty
- Height Requirement: No less than 57.5 inches or more than 80 inches
- Background Checks: Completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit
- Additional Training: Completion of the Aircrew Fundamentals Course
