Mobile Service Engineer - Sheffield

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of routine servicing, inspections and subsequent repairs to Distribution Tractors, Ro-Ro Tractors and other sea port equipment, Aircraft Equipment (GSE Only) and any other manufacturer’s products on customer’s premises when requested.
  • Carries out visual or operational checks to locate worn, dirty or maladjusted parts.
  • Uses technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using a small variety of test equipment.
  • Undertakes thorough inspections of accident damaged machines and produces accurate reports to enable repair.
  • Observes all company and site Health & Safety requirements at all times.
  • Represents Terberg DTS Service Department in the ‘field’ and displays the highest standards of appearance, manner and technical ability.
  • Works as an effective member of the Service Department and undertakes tasks and assignments issued by the Service Department.
  • Determines own repair and maintenance techniques, selects appropriate materials, and implements correct safety measures such as eye protection and suitable clothing.
  • Obtains agreement from the customer that the work has been completed as required/requested, and obtains signature and purchase order number where necessary.
  • Performs all relative administrative procedures to acceptable standards.
  • Performs inventory procedures relative to vehicle parts stock to maintain an accurate account of components carried and used.
  • Ensures maintenance and repairs are carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and our Safe System of Work procedures.
  • Understands and works safely according to the company’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Attends all training courses/seminars as the business requires.
  • Keeps all company equipment in a clean, safe and presentable manner (e.g. company vehicles).
  • Works with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
  • Is prepared to work additional hours when required, including out of hours call outs.
  • Is prepared to work away from home on customer’s vehicles either with or without workshop facilities being available for use, this may involve unsociable hours to ensure the completion of the job.
  • Undertakes any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.

Qualifications And Experience Required

  • City and Guilds Level 3 – Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems – Maintenance and Repair Qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • Substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and resultant repairs, including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Working experience of a range of heavy goods / specialist vehicles.
  • UK valid driving licence.
