Mobile Phlebotomist

About the Role

Join Southcoast Health, a not-for-profit, charitable health system with multiple hospitals, clinics, and facilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. As a Mobile Phlebotomist, you will perform phlebotomy procedures in diverse community-based settings, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, rehabilitation centers, behavioral health facilities, and private residences. This role requires extensive travel throughout the assigned service area and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

A $1,500 new hire sign-on bonus is available for this position (rehires termed more than one year are also eligible).

Responsibilities

• Accurately identify patients and perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Ensure proper collection, processing, handling, and transportation of laboratory specimens in community-based settings.
• Work independently in diverse clinical and home-care environments, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, rehabilitation centers, behavioral health facilities, and private residences.
• Serve as a representative of the laboratory, maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and facility personnel.
• Travel regularly throughout the assigned service area to meet patient and operational needs.
• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to teammates and community partners.
• Uphold patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
• Adapt to changing environments while maintaining high-quality service across multiple care settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program with one-time phlebotomy certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC or equivalent) required within 2 years from date of hire.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in specimen collection and handling.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
• Experience working independently in outreach, home care, or mobile phlebotomy services preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory information systems and electronic order management preferred.
• Customer service experience in healthcare settings preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation required; must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or exempt for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the exemption.

Pay

Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience. Pay Range: USD $22.78 - USD $29.70 per hour.

Schedule

• Hours: 24 hours per week.
• Shift: Day/Evening shift, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
• Rotation: Every 4th Sunday, rotate one on-call weekend, one major holiday, one minor holiday, and on-call for one holiday.
