About the role

Ever dreamed of turning doggie frowns upside down and getting paid for it? Awesome Doggies Mobile Pet Grooming is looking for kind-hearted miracle workers to join our team and learn the art of pet grooming! No professional grooming experience needed. Whether your animal handling experience is personal or professional, being someone who can put animals at ease when they aren’t in their comfort zone is a great starting point for this career. Previously successful candidates have included vet techs, brusher/bathers, ranch hands, regular volunteers with rescue groups, trainers, and general animal whisperers. We provide full training and all the gear you need to make tails wag and fur shine.

In this apprenticeship role, you’ll start by learning from the best before gradually transitioning to working on your own. This is a skill that takes years to master, but we will be here to guide you through the learning curve.

Responsibilities

• Sparkle & Shine: Keep our mobile salon sparkling clean and safe, creating a cozy retreat for all our furry clients.
• Grooming Guru: Bathe, trim, and pamper pets like a pro—whether you’re working with a trainer or taking the reins solo.
• Nail & Ear Extraordinaire: Provide nail trims, ear cleaning, and all those little touches that make pets look and feel fabulous.
• Pet Handling Hero: Confidently guide animals through the grooming process using gentle handling techniques.
• Record Keeper: Maintain accurate records of grooming services and handle payments.
• Client Communicator: Chat with clients to understand their pet’s preferences and ensure they leave with smiles and wagging tails.
• Customer Service Superstar: Deliver exceptional service that leaves both pets and owners thrilled.

Requirements

• Pet Handling Experience: You’ve got a knack for doggie diplomacy and animal TLC.
• Fast-Paced Fun: You thrive in a busy environment with the agility of a cat and the energy of a pup.
• Attention to Detail: You’re meticulous with records and know that every detail counts.
• Communication Champ: Excellent communication and customer service skills make you the go-to person for pet parents.
• Flexible & Strong: Lift and move pets with ease, and be flexible with hours, including weekends.
• Compassionate Heart: You’re brimming with empathy and love for animals and their owners.
• Valid Drivers License (not permit) for at least three years.

Pay

$17.75 per hour plus overtime (since we work 10 hour shifts, we pay time and a half after 8 hours each day), plus tips on the days you work alone.

Schedule

• 20 or 30 hours per week to start.
• Expect to work weekends, including every Saturday.
• Shifts begin around 7:30am and end around 6pm.
• Work locations include North County, central San Diego, and East County.

COVID-19 Considerations

We don't enter homes, limit interactions with each other, don't allow customers in our mobile salons, wear masks when appropriate, have cleaning procedures in place, and provide supplies and masks.
