Position Summary
Maintains and repairs plant mobile equipment including forklifts, automobiles, pickup trucks, dump truck, front-end loaders, and woodyard equipment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains and repairs plant mobile equipment.
- Exercises proficiency in the following areas:
- Welding, Cutting, and Fabrication.
- Troubleshooting and repairing gasoline, propane, and diesel engines.
- Repairing/rebuilding hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, etc.
- Inspection and repair of transmission and drive train, electrical system, brakes, suspension, wheels and alignment, etc.
- Lifting and Rigging (use of cranes, chainfalls, jacks, forklifts, etc.).
- Routinely performs preventative maintenance to all plant mobile equipment as required and keep accurate records up to date.
- Manufactures and/or installs parts or equipment as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
- Tests repaired or newly installed equipment and upon completion, replace all guards and safety devices.
- Maintains an acceptable level of housekeeping in the garage area.
- Requisitions repair parts and supplies through the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Planner.
- Follows checkout procedures when removing items from storeroom.
- Assists in maintenance and repair of plant operating equipment as requested by Maintenance Supervisor during outages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5 years' experience.
- Good mechanical aptitude, training and experience to perform job duties.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Industrial maintenance training required.
- Must know and observe applicable company policies and comply with all EH&S practices.
- Ability to work while walking and standing or climbing a considerable portion of the time, often in awkward or strained positions.
- Must be able to operate portable power tools and standard hand tools.
- Must have the ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in heights.
- Must be able to wear hearing protection and respirator required for task being performed.
- Must have the ability to operate heavy equipment such as man-lifts, boom-trucks, forklifts, dump trucks, loaders, woodyard equipment and portable cranes.
- Must have ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, and be on call as required.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
