Mobile LiDAR Practice Leader - Remote.

About the role

The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit at David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) is seeking a remotely-based Mobile LiDAR Practice Leader. This role involves leading end-to-end LiDAR surveys and processing, conducting QA/QC, managing mobile LiDAR collection teams, and supporting project needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead end to end LiDAR surveys and processing for trajectory based systems
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
• Develop and refine internal LiDAR processing standards and best practices
• Manage mobile LiDAR collection team
• Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, engineers, and GIS professionals to support project needs
• Aid with project scoping, scheduling, and technical proposals
• Aid with development of marketing materials for internal and external sales efforts
• Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior technicians
• Evaluate and implement new LiDAR technologies and software tools
• Maintain and track equipment and vehicles to ensure safe, proper operation

Qualifications

• Familiarity with 3D laser scanning, inertial navigation, GPS data collection, and data post-processing techniques
• Strong knowledge of geospatial data formats
• Strong knowledge of datums and coordinate systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving/analytical skills
• Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years in LiDAR acquisition and processing
• Business development experience or service sales experience
• Software proficiencies: RiProcess, Applanix Pospac, Bentley/Microstation products, Topodot, Terrasolid products
• Experience using advanced or non-traditional geospatial technologies such as scanning, modeling, or AI-assisted data analysis
