About the role
The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit at David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) is seeking a remotely-based Mobile LiDAR Practice Leader. This role involves leading end-to-end LiDAR surveys and processing, conducting QA/QC, managing mobile LiDAR collection teams, and supporting project needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead end to end LiDAR surveys and processing for trajectory based systems
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
- Develop and refine internal LiDAR processing standards and best practices
- Manage mobile LiDAR collection team
- Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, engineers, and GIS professionals to support project needs
- Aid with project scoping, scheduling, and technical proposals
- Aid with development of marketing materials for internal and external sales efforts
- Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior technicians
- Evaluate and implement new LiDAR technologies and software tools
- Maintain and track equipment and vehicles to ensure safe, proper operation
Qualifications
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning, inertial navigation, GPS data collection, and data post-processing techniques
- Strong knowledge of geospatial data formats
- Strong knowledge of datums and coordinate systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving/analytical skills
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years in LiDAR acquisition and processing
- Business development experience or service sales experience
- Software proficiencies: RiProcess, Applanix Pospac, Bentley/Microstation products, Topodot, Terrasolid products
- Experience using advanced or non-traditional geospatial technologies such as scanning, modeling, or AI-assisted data analysis
