About the Role
A TH Medical Radiographer at Stony Brook Medicine provides clinical services to our patient population, demonstrating superior patient care and outstanding communication skills while adhering to high standards of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Position patients and provide immobilization devices as required to produce diagnostic imaging.
- Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
- Select and operate equipment as directed.
- Provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Process exams and perform quality assurance on images to facilitate delivery to the PAC's system for dictation.
- Assist physicians in the administration of opaque media when applicable.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
- Delegate areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
- Oversee and instruct students or hospital personnel in established procedures and operation of equipment.
- Act as acting supervisor in the absence of a supervisor or senior technologist.
- Assist in performing first aid.
- Conduct periodic quality control tests.
- Participate or conduct research in the required specialty.
- Maintain adequate records as directed.
- Maintain order and cleanliness, secure and return supplies.
- Cooperate with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
- Rotate within the department and other departments by shift as required.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
- Assist in the development of technical factors as required.
- Assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught.
- Participate in in-service programs and annual recertification training, including compliance and HIPAA training.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Maintain licensure, including BLS and AED certification.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Radiology Program.
- New York State Department of Health Licensed in Radiology Technology.
- Current ARRT and BLS Certification.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and hospital experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- One year of experience in the field of Radiology.
Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required depending on scheduled events.

- This position may be designated as "essential," requiring employees to remain at work or report to work during institutional emergencies.
- Prior to the start date, the selected candidate must meet several pre-employment requirements, including a physical examination, drug screen, and regulatory screenings.
Pay
The anticipated pay range for this position is $89,403 - $113,385 per year. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay, such as location pay for full-time positions ($3,400).
Schedule
Full-time. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required depending on scheduled events.
