MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1, 2, HEAVY 1
About the role
The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. This position is located in DISTRICT 08 /UNIT 540 of the Department of Transportation and Development.
Job Duties
- Operates heavy equipment, as needed.
- Installs and maintains temporary traffic control devices and serves as a flag person during traffic control operations.
- Uses a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, jackhammer, chain saw, string trimmer, and pole saw.
- Performs manual tasks such as pothole patching, manual cutting of brush and grass, ditch digging, cleaning buildings, assisting in mud jack operations, cutting trees, collecting litter, etc.
- Performs minor repairs, services, preventative maintenance, and cleans equipment in accordance with operator's manual and manufacturer's recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely.
- Maintain a Class A CDL license (MEO 2 and MEO 1/Heavy).
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
Position-Specific Details
- Maintains a Class A CDL license (MEO 2 and MEO 1/Heavy).
- Requires random drug testing.
- Required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, and climb on and off equipment and trailer, as well as lifting up to fifty pounds on a daily basis.
- Required to work in all types of inclement weather and conditions.
