Mobile Engineer (SF)

About the role

We are seeking a mobile engineer to build our first native mobile app using React Native. This role is foundational and involves standing up the mobile app from scratch, making key architectural decisions, and setting patterns for the rest of the team.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain React Native apps in production
• Work on integrating with native iOS and Android platforms (Swift, Kotlin)
• Write TypeScript and React code
• Collaborate with the Next.js web frontend team
• Write product requirements documents
• Understand and optimize database queries (SQL)
• Own Quality Assurance (QA) processes
• Work in an environment of significant ambiguity
• Interact with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building mobile apps, with meaningful production experience in React Native
• Strong understanding of native iOS and/or Android development (Swift, Kotlin)
• Experience with Expo, including build tooling, OTA updates, and native module configuration
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React
• Experience architecting shared code between mobile and web codebases
• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks (Ruby on Rails and Postgres preferred)

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The role is based in either our San Francisco office (near Market and Spear St) or our Boston office (Central Square, Cambridge). We expect our team to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week, and ideally 4 or 5.
