About the role
A Mobile Diesel Mechanic/Technician at Kooner Fleet Management Solutions performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers, including emergency roadside service. This role requires at least 3 years of hands-on diesel tech experience, DOT inspection and air brake repair expertise, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment.
- Handle emergency road service calls with confidence and urgency.
- Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled service or maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling, and air systems.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools, including handheld computers and precision instruments, to identify and fix issues fast.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to get the job done right.
- Road test vehicles to ensure every repair meets top-quality standards.
- Stay productive and efficient, meeting or beating industry-standard repair times.
- Work with trusted vendors to source parts and keep operations moving.
- Take ownership of a company-issued service truck, perform maintenance and pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance.

Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on diesel tech experience working on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers.
- DOT inspection and air brake repair expertise that keeps fleets rolling safely.
- Strong communication skills - you know how to connect and communicate with customers and drivers alike.
- Comfortable using mobile apps, navigation systems, and digital tools to stay organized and document repairs.
- Ready for the outdoors - rain or shine at customer yards.
- Independent, dependable, and self-motivated - you take pride in getting the job done right.
- A positive attitude and safety-first mindset.
- Must be 23+ with a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to lift, move, and position heavy equipment or components.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl, and crouch to access vehicle components.
- Must be able to work in dynamic, high-traffic areas.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions - rain or shine.
