Mobile Diesel Mechanic / Field Diesel Technician - Albany, OR

About the role

Gordon Truck Centers (GTC) is seeking Mobile/Field Service Diesel Technicians for the Albany, OR location. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, receive comprehensive training, and be part of a supportive team in well-equipped facilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-road and customer on-site maintenance services by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy duty equipment.
• Run diagnostic tests and analyze results.
• Repair or replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Develop technical skills through training opportunities.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the mobile service truck.

Requirements

• Three years of actual truck repair experience needed.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable.
• CDL-A is a plus.
• Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate or ability to obtain.

Skills

• Working knowledge of engines, transmissions, differential, A/C and suspensions.
• Able to read schematics for electrical and air systems.
• Ability to drive a vehicle, lift, push or pull objects of various shapes, sizes and weights, up to 100 pounds.
• Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties.
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Use a telephone and computer.

Benefits

• Compensation based upon level of skill and experience, hourly compensation is $20.00 to $50.00.
• Night shift, weekend shift, and lead/mentor differential pay available.
• Work schedules and shifts will vary depending on business needs.
• Full complement of tools required for diesel equipment repair including wrenches and sockets to 1 ¼”, 3/8” and ½” drive air tools, floor creeper and a roll around tool cabinet.
• Physical demands include working in, under, and around trucks and trailers, lifting up to 75 pounds, and using a variety of tools.
• Environmental demands primarily outdoor work, high noise level, and exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
