About the role

The Assistant Manager role at Pet Paradise in Jacksonville, Florida oversees daily operations of the resort and provides support to the Resort Manager. This position requires mobility and the ability to travel and potentially relocate.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations by maintaining standards of conduct, cleanliness, and safety
  • Manage resort labor, including creating and posting staff schedules, reviewing and approving timecards, and controlling labor hours
  • Communicate recruitment needs to operations management and HR, interview, hire, and onboard new resort employees
  • Supervise, train, and coach team members on company standards, policies, and procedures, identify high performers, and develop them for growth within the company
  • Motivate and teach resort staff to provide premier service, ensuring a safe, clean, and fun atmosphere
  • Foster open communication with regional and corporate teams regarding resort operations and partner with the maintenance crew on building issues
  • Document and deliver employee corrective actions and terminations, when necessary
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies, perform walk-throughs, manage lodging calendars, lead meetings, and perform other recurring Manager on Duty (MOD) obligations
  • Maintain excellent customer service metrics such as Net Promoter Score (NPS) and reviews on Google and other social media sites
  • Speak with customers if they have concerns, questions, or complaints, maintaining a high level of professionalism, care, and concern
  • Develop methods and procedures to increase sales, promote new business, retain current customer base, and attract new customers
  • Perform resort opening and/or closing duties, and other tasks as assigned
  • Work onsite at the resort at least 3-4 weekend days per month and on holidays

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role
  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to manage, guide, train, and motivate employees
  • Detail-oriented and focused on results, including a desire to ensure goals are met or exceeded
  • Ability to develop and train staff, utilizing skills of staff most appropriately
  • Prior leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality operations, or similar fields
  • Previous experience in animal care or related field is preferred
  • Basic skills with common computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable being around dogs of all sizes and physically able to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Flexible to resort schedule needs including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times
  • Valid driver’s license and working motor vehicle
