About the role
The Assistant Manager position at Pet Paradise in Austin, Texas is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and supporting the Resort Manager. This role requires mobility and the ability to travel and potentially relocate.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations by maintaining standards of conduct, cleanliness, and safety
- Manage resort labor, including creating and posting staff schedules, reviewing and approving timecards, and controlling labor hours
- Communicate recruitment needs to operations management and HR, interview, hire, and onboard new employees
- Supervise, train, and coach team members on company standards, policies, and procedures, identify high performers, and develop them for growth
- Motivate and teach staff to provide premier service, ensuring a safe, clean, fun atmosphere
- Foster open communication with regional and corporate teams, and partner with maintenance crew on building issues
- Document and deliver corrective actions and terminations, when necessary
- Maintain appropriate inventory, perform walk-throughs, manage lodging calendars, lead meetings, and perform MOD obligations
- Maintain excellent customer service metrics and handle customer concerns professionally
- Develop methods and procedures to increase sales, promote new business, retain customers, and attract new customers
- Perform resort opening and closing duties, and other tasks as assigned
- Work 5-day workweeks onsite at the resort, with no more than 3 consecutive “off” days from week to week
- Work 3-4 weekend days per month and on holidays
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role
- High school diploma required, college degree preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Detail-oriented and focused on results
- Prior leadership experience in retail, hospitality operations, or similar fields
- Basic skills with common computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and lifting up to 60 lbs
- Flexible to resort schedule needs including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times
- Valid driver’s license and working motor vehicle
