Mobile Application Developer
This position is with the Homeland Sector at Leidos, supporting a mission-critical program that develops, modernizes, enhances, operates, and maintains services for DHS/CBP mission-critical systems. The role requires a strong mix of communication skills and hands-on technical troubleshooting to address application issues and implement preventative measures.
About the role
In this hands-on position, you will collaborate to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise judgment in recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and resource constraints. The role involves participating in and/or directing major project deliverables through all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.
Location requirement: This position requires the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, two days a week.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modernize, and enhance mobile applications for mission-critical systems.
- Architect, design, and build highly available, scalable, real-time systems.
- Collaborate with teams to deliver and maintain mobile and backend solutions.
- Apply strong application testing discipline to ensure quality and reliability.
- Participate in or direct major project deliverables through the full software development lifecycle.
- Work with issue/problem tracking systems (e.g., Jira) and Agile practices.
- Develop and maintain both front-end mobile applications and back-end RESTful APIs.
- Utilize DevOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree and 6 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in Mobile Application Development, with expertise in both Android and iOS.
- Experience in both front-end mobile and back-end RESTful API development.
- Proficiency in Java and Node.js development.
- Experience with both NoSQL and SQL databases.
- Strong application testing discipline.
- Experience with Google’s Flutter engine and Dart language, or similar Android/iOS frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
- Proficiency with Postgres, Spring Boot, SQL, Kafka, MySQL, Struts, Hibernate, Java, JSF, Swing, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular/React is desired.
- Knowledge of software design patterns.
- Proficiency with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and best development practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active CBP Background Investigation.
- Experience with CBP AWS environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Familiarity with other mobile frameworks.
Pay
Pay Range: $87,100.00 - $157,450.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
