About the role

Songscription is a music learning AI lab dedicated to enabling anyone to play any song they can imagine. Our products, Songscription and Anything Piano, provide AI-powered tools for transcribing and learning songs.

Responsibilities

• Lead mobile app development from zero to one, owning the entire codebase for iOS and Android
• Architect and implement core infrastructure spanning database architecture, authentication, and payments
• Ship fast and iterate relentlessly, translating product specs and design mocks into production code at exceptional speed, prototyping new features and refining them based on user feedback and usage data
• Guide junior developers and help establish Songscription's engineering culture and best practices

Requirements

• 3+ years of full-time mobile development experience, including shipping and maintaining consumer mobile apps with significant user bases
• Strong command of the full mobile stack: modern mobile frameworks (e.g., React Native, Swift, Kotlin, or similar), Next.js, Tailwind, backend-as-a-service platforms (Supabase strongly preferred), authentication, payments, database design, and API integration
• Deep technical knowledge and problem-solving ability, able to teach the team new approaches, anticipate issues before they arise, and make smart tradeoffs between speed and architecture
• Strong product intuition and collaboration skills, working fluidly with product and design teams, pushing back constructively when needed, and having an eye for what makes mobile experiences delightful
• Able to work in-person at our San Francisco Bay Area office
• Experience playing an instrument and/or strong passion for music

Qualifications

• Familiarity with music transcription and music data formats (e.g., MIDI, MusicXML, etc.)
• Experience in game development or working on learning software, particularly in music
