Responsibilities

• Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates technical competency by performing a wide variety of laboratory techniques, including moderate to highly complex tests.
• Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and skills to independently operate instrumentation and/or assigned benches.
• Operates all department equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots instruments failures.
• Performs tasks that assist with overall operation of laboratory service according to laboratory policies and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• May assist with training new employees.
• Assists with specimen processing as needed.
• Assists with inventory management/control.
• Maintains continuing education requirements.
• Participates in activities that demonstrate professionalism, a commitment to competency and career growth.
• Performs a variety of routine tests and procedures, performs instrument maintenance procedures, and performs routine quality control procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operations of department, including covering other lab sections.

Qualifications

• AS degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• ASCP eligible.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Consistently interacts with coworkers and customers in a positive manner.
• Cooperatively and proactively assists in other areas as needed in a teamwork oriented environment.
• Maintains procedure knowledge and implements all new and revised procedures in real time.
• Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times.
