Responsibilities
- Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates technical competency by performing a wide variety of laboratory techniques, including moderate to highly complex tests.
- Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and skills to independently operate instrumentation and/or assigned benches.
- Operates all department equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots instruments failures.
- Performs tasks that assist with overall operation of laboratory service according to laboratory policies and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- May assist with training new employees.
- Assists with specimen processing as needed.
- Assists with inventory management/control.
- Maintains continuing education requirements.
- Participates in activities that demonstrate professionalism, a commitment to competency and career growth.
- Performs a variety of routine tests and procedures, performs instrument maintenance procedures, and performs routine quality control procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operations of department, including covering other lab sections.
Qualifications
- AS degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- ASCP eligible.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Consistently interacts with coworkers and customers in a positive manner.
- Cooperatively and proactively assists in other areas as needed in a teamwork oriented environment.
- Maintains procedure knowledge and implements all new and revised procedures in real time.
- Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times.
