MLS/MLT - Lab General (Casual) - 7010

About the role

Under the supervision of the Administrative Director, Laboratory Services, Section Supervisor or authorized designee, and pursuant to Federal Regulations, clinical oversight by the Medical Director or appointed Pathologist, performs laboratory tests in one or more of the fields of hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunohematology in order to obtain data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs and monitors daily quality control and instrument maintenance. Observes laboratory safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests in one or more of the fields of hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunohematology
• Obtains data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease

• Observes laboratory safety regulations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited MLS or MLT program
• Current New York State certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory equipment and techniques

Pay
