Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory testing with accuracy and precision specific to the assigned section for the treatment and diagnosis of diseases.
- Enters test results in the laboratory information system accurately and promptly.
- Documents and calls all critical values to a Health Care provider.
- Adheres to the clinical laboratory’s quality control policies in performing, resulting, troubleshooting, and documenting all quality control activities.
- Issues unable to be resolved are reported promptly to Supervisor, Manager or Director.
- Performs and documents preventative maintenance and troubleshooting records in order to maintain high quality laboratory service.
- Is capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify a supervisor or director.
- Follows and reviews general laboratory, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Provides instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols, and laboratory procedures to students and employees.
- Performs proficiency testing on external and internal specimens to adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Maintains adequate inventory levels for continuous operation and reports all deviations to department supervisor.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Science.
- Licensed Medical Technologist in Florida.
