About the role

The MLOps Engineer will contribute to a long-term technology project aimed at developing decision-ready underwriting data and insights within short timeframes after receiving a submission. The project seeks to unify diverse human and digital workflows under a single umbrella. The MLOps Engineer will focus on developing, refactoring, and optimizing ML models, as well as managing the model lifecycle for components leveraging prebuilt AI. The initial phase is expected to span roughly six months, with potential for ongoing engagements in subsequent phases.

Responsibilities

  • Fill gaps in the organization’s ML modeling footprint
  • Retrofit and refactor existing ML models to meet project SLAs
  • Advise the data team on extraction and contribute software components where needed
  • Collaborate with the data team on gating and readiness indicators to support digital workflows
  • Develop process-level controls to monitor and mitigate project risks such as drift

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability with:
    • R or Python
    • Excel
    • SQL
    • GIS technology such as ArcGIS or Leaflet
    • Presentation technology such as PowerPoint
    • Logistic and multivariate regression
    • Data wrangling
    • Tree-based methods

Pay

The annualized base pay for this position ranges from a minimum of $71,600 to a maximum of $100,900. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as market pay for comparable roles, responsibilities, required skills, and individual performance. Eligible employees may also participate in discretionary equity-based compensation and performance-based variable pay programs.
