Yorkville Community School District 115 is seeking an English Language Learners (ELL) teacher for the early childhood program, located at the Early Childhood Center and Bristol Grade School.
About the Role
This full-time (1.0 FTE) position supports EL students with English language acquisition in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The EL teacher will provide a nurturing, collaborative, and supportive learning environment with high expectations, including push-in support for students in classroom content areas.
Responsibilities
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, integrating play-based learning to optimize instructional time.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, modifying instructional methods to meet individual needs, including those of students with special needs; provides individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Stays current with developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Maintains student conduct aligned with school standards and district policies, fostering a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinates with early childhood professional staff and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing protocol.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by program administrators or central office administrators.
Qualifications
- Current Professional Educators License with an age-appropriate ESL endorsement.
- Preferred: Professional Educators License with an Early Childhood endorsement.
- Preferred: Bilingual proficiency.
- Strong content knowledge and experience in EL language instruction.
- Prior experience teaching in an early childhood program is highly desired but not required.
Pay
Starting salary: $51,612 for a Bachelor's degree plus 0 years of experience (Year 1).
