MKTG303: Graphic Designer
About the role
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) volunteer positions. JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda. Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
This is a virtual position. You will be expected to maintain high levels of communication with team members while working remotely.
About JerseySTEM
JerseySTEM is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to offering innovative opportunities and bridging the gender gap in STEM education for children in New Jersey’s underserved communities. We partner with local schools, parents, and educators to create and enhance STEM-oriented educational opportunities for students in grades 5-8 as part of their paths towards college and career readiness. We provide free after-school, project-based, and hands-on structured programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Classes include Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Life Sciences, and more. Classes last up to 10 weeks and are predominantly taught by trained volunteer college students.
Responsibilities
- Design compelling graphic and visual content.
- Prepare rough layouts of artwork for presentation and approval.
- Use creative skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to create marketing collaterals.
- Demonstrate a passion for kids, education, and graphic design.
- Maintain high levels of communication with team members while working remotely.
Requirements
- Past experience(s) in Graphic Design.
- Applicants must submit a portfolio.
- Minimum of 5-10 hours per week commitment is preferred.
- Proficiency in digital platforms and must be extremely tech-savvy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to take on responsibility and work in a team.
- Commitment to excellence and meeting company expectations.
- Drive to complete assignments on time and effectively.
- Dependency and commitment to the job.
