About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The goal is to build sustainable infrastructure for the transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test strategies, test methodologies, and test fixtures — including design of supporting test hardware — for power subsystem hardware from component level through integrated vehicle testing
- Design, develop, and deliver test support hardware including test cards, breakout boards, and fixture circuits to enable safe and efficient validation of power subsystem assemblies
- Execute and supervise validation campaigns including acceptance testing and Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing
- Ensure proper test execution, data collection, and system requirement verification
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for EGSE and vehicle power sequencing
- Troubleshoot electrical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate and integrate interfacing subsystems with the power subsystem
- Support design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and design for test activities
- Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a primary focus in both hardware test and validation and electrical circuit design
- Understanding of power electronics hardware development, such as developing high-voltage switching
- Experience developing test plans, test procedures, and acceptance test procedures for high-voltage applications
- Experience with automated test scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent)
- Understanding of power systems hardware including power distribution, DC-DC converters, power integrity, and power sequencing
- Experience with mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection
- Familiarity with many of the following parts and their usage: power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), MOSFETs, op-amps, ADCs, and DACs
- Knowledge of common communication methods such as RS422, RS485, SPI, LVDS, or similar protocols
- Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and test phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field
- 7+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems
- Experience designing or analyzing DC-DC converters, power supplies, or power distribution architectures
- Familiarity with power supply stability analysis, worst case analysis, or FMECA
- Circuit design spanning multiple fields, and cross-functional collaboration across power design, firmware, software, and systems teams
Skills
- Strong understanding of power electronics and circuit design
- Experience with test planning and execution
- Proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent automated test scripting tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
