Job Description
The Mixing Tech (PRN) is primarily responsible for sorting, stocking, and labeling medications, maintaining the drug inventory system, and processing prescriptions for patients.
- Supporting pharmacological services by assembling, stocking, and distributing medications.
- Maintaining records by documenting and filing the prescriptions and order of Physicians.
- Sorting, stocking and labeling medications and monitoring inventory.
- Responding to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions, and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacy Manager.
- Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
- Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information in accurate and complete.
- Generating revenues by recording, calculating, and issuing charges.
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by Pharmacy Manager.
- Delivering medications at the counter and processing payments.
- Assisting patients with insurance questions.
- Assisting with researching and applying for drug assistance programs for patients needing financial assistance.
- Organizing pharmacy inventory.
- Measuring, mixing and labeling medication dosages.
- Under supervision of Pharmacy Manager, dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients.
- Collecting insurance and other information necessary to distribute prescriptions.
- Repackaging prescriptions.
Qualifications/Competencies
- Active SC Pharmacy Technician registration or SC State-Certified Pharmacy Technician registration.
- Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Computer skills required: Electronic medical records systems, pharmacy systems, Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge and understanding of Community Pharmacy daily operations as they pertain to filling, processing, and/or dispensing of oral medications.
- Knowledge and understanding of the practice of community-based pharmacy.
- Ability to work effectively with all departments, vendors, and consultants.
