Mixer Truck Operator / Tupelo & surrounding areas
Responsibilities
- Drive the truck safely, professionally, and efficiently, including shifting, backing, braking, and turning.
- Operate the mixer drum safely and carefully, ensuring the drum speed approaches zero before changing modes.
- Perform daily and weekly checks and preventive maintenance on the truck and mixer.
- Prepare and submit driver’s reports documenting the work done.
- Climb up, onto, and underneath the truck and mixer to perform tasks such as checking oil and coolant levels, belt condition, and washing down the equipment.
- Add water to the mix if necessary to achieve the correct slump, and notify quality control personnel if the mix appears too wet.
- Follow dispatcher’s instructions to reach the job site safely and promptly, and adhere to customer instructions at the job site.
- Complete the required information on the delivery ticket, recording the time of arrival, discharge completion, and water added.
- Inspect the concrete quality on every load after wash down and report any issues to the dispatcher.
- Lift and handle chutes weighing up to 50 pounds each for discharge and placement of concrete.
- Return chutes to the rack and store them securely after each load.
- Carry and pour a five-gallon bucket of liquid admixture into the mixer drum at the job site.
- Thoroughly wash out the truck mixer drum at the end of the day and when there is a gap in deliveries.
- Dispose of returned concrete according to dispatcher’s instructions, including filling block forms if necessary.
- Perform other reasonable tasks around the plant yard as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle chutes weighing up to 50 pounds each.
Must be able to climb up, onto, and underneath the truck and mixer.
Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Must have a good understanding of concrete batching and delivery processes.
Must be able to follow safety protocols and procedures.
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and dispatchers.
Must have a good working knowledge of quality control testing.
Must be available to work in multiple locations: Tupelo, Corinth, Holly Springs, Pontotoc, Booneville, Fulton, New Albany, Oxford, Ripley, Houston.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience operating a concrete mixer truck preferred.
Experience in concrete batching and delivery processes preferred.
Experience with quality control testing preferred.
Experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred.
Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements (if applicable).
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
