About the role

Join the Mix Processing department as a Blend Operator and learn all positions within the department, including mix preparation, cleaning and CIP, flavoring, receiving, and running and maintaining pasteurization equipment in our production environment. The Mix Processing Operator closely monitors the dairy production process and follows Standard Operating Procedures for mixing, cleaning, receiving, flavoring, batching, and processing products.

Responsibilities

  • Review instructions on Master Batch Records to ensure accuracy
  • Relocate ingredients to the proper work area
  • Review production schedule to validate product runs
  • Review all quality, food safety, and product specifications
  • Monitor blending equipment according to the specifications of components and blend amounts
  • Control valves, pumps, speed, and temperatures in accordance with industry standards for blending
  • Adhere to established testing procedures and provide required samples to the laboratory
  • Assemble and disassemble equipment for proper cleaning/sanitizing and operating per manufacturer instructions
  • Observe and test system operation using gauges and instruments
  • Engage in dismantling, assembling, and installing refrigeration equipment
  • Maintain communication with other departments, supervisors, and employees and notify them of any problems or concerns that may restrict production efficiency
  • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs
  • Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes
  • Report any food safety and food quality-related issues to management immediately
  • Maintain safe working conditions and comply with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Degree or college coursework in Dairy or Food Science, Chemistry, or other related program preferred
  • Mix, processing, or pasteurization experience or experience in the food or beverage industry preferred
  • Basic math skills required
  • Experience operating a forklift is a plus
  • Must be able to push, pull, stand, walk, climb, and crouch for virtually the entire shift
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or assist others while lifting
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment
  • May have some exposure to dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime as required, occasional weekends, and holidays
  • May be exposed to allergens
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background, and criminal checks

Pay

$22.58 / hour

Schedule

This position will train on all three shifts to learn all positions within the team and may act as a relief operator, which may include working on other shifts as needed.
