About the role

The Store Manager plays a critical role in supporting merchandising, operational, and human resources functions for an individual store to achieve or exceed planned sales and profits. This position requires a proactive and vigilant individual who remains highly engaged with customers, demonstrates integrity, effective communication skills, and works effectively in a dynamic retail setting. The Store Manager will help build a positive work culture, drive employee involvement, and support change management efforts within the retail organization.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, counsel, and terminate employees in compliance with legal and internal processes.
  • Maintain financial controls, including shrink, payroll, and other operating expenses.
  • Oversee proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transactions, and ensure compliance with shrink control standards.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure customers receive satisfactory service.
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or performing customer services.
  • Ensure staff adherence to all Citi Trends, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of retail experience as a Store Manager.
  • 5-7 years of total retail experience.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages).

Physical Requirements

Store Managers are scheduled to work 45 hours per week and must be able to perform the following physical functions with or without accommodation:

  • Squat, kneel, or stoop (frequent to continuous).
  • Stand, bend, or walk (frequent to continuous).
  • Twist (occasional to frequent).
  • Reach above shoulder (occasional to frequent).
  • Lift or carry (occasional to frequent).
  • Push or pull (occasional to frequent).
  • Use of hands for manual dexterity or grasping (frequent to continuous).

Schedule

45 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
