Mission Software Engineer, Vehicle Software, Communications

About the role

The Air Dominance & Strike team at Anduril is seeking Software Engineers to build the core Command and Control software for our Lattice platform. This team bridges the gap between hardware and human operators, managing real-time telemetry, health, and autopilot tasks on the vehicles, and visualizing maps, managing fleets, and orchestrating autonomous behaviors on the Ground Control Station.

Responsibilities

• Build, ship, and see your code run on physical hardware deployed in the world.
• Integrate autonomous systems with military radio links such as Link 16 and other third-party waveforms.
• Design and implement failure modes for lost-comms scenarios so vehicles act decisively when the link drops.
• Build robust link-switching logic that keeps the mission running through degraded RF environments.
• Build software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
• Quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
• Pioneering the integration of GenAI agents into our systems, allowing operators to direct autonomous assets using natural language interfaces.

Requirements

• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor, Master, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• 3+ years of production-grade C++ and/or Rust experience in a Linux development environment.
• Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
• Experience with developing and testing multi-agent autonomous systems and deploying in real-world environments.
• Experience with feature and algorithm development with an understanding of behavior trees.
• Experience with developing software/hardware for flight systems and safety critical functionality.
• Experience with distributed communication networks and message standards.
• Strong background with focus in Physics, Mathematics, and/or Motion Planning to inform modeling & simulation (M&S) and physical systems.

Pay

US Salary Range: $166,000—$220,000 USD
