Responsibilities
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all phases of construction, reinforcing accountability at every level of the jobsite
- Lead daily engagement with subcontractors, field teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on safety expectations and execution
- Integrate safety into preconstruction planning, work sequencing, and high-risk activity coordination
- Perform advanced hazard identification and job hazard analyses (JHA/HIRA), particularly for high-risk scopes such as energized electrical work, crane operations, confined spaces, and commissioning activities
- Proactively identify and manage risks associated with fast-track schedules, overlapping trades, and high-density jobsite conditions common in data center construction
- Support development and maintenance of risk registers and mitigation strategies tied to safety, schedule, and operational readiness
- Coordinate closely with MEP teams and trade partners to ensure safe installation, testing, and startup of critical infrastructure systems such as UPS, switchgear, and generators
- Conduct frequent jobsite inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with Brinkmann, OSHA, and client-specific standards
- Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain required safety documentation including OSHA logs, inspection reports, permits, and training records
- Deliver site-specific orientations and ongoing safety training to support a large, multi-shift workforce
- Coach field teams and subcontractors on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and behavior-based safety principles
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and safety leadership to ensure safety is embedded in all project decisions and workflows
- Interface with clients, insurers, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment with strict mission-critical safety expectations
- Monitor and manage PPE compliance, ensuring standards meet or exceed client and project requirements often above OSHA minimums
- Analyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and proactively prevent incidents
- Support implementation of digital safety tools, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of construction safety experience (mission-critical / data center preferred)
- Experience on large, complex, fast-track projects with multiple subcontractors
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and mission-critical safety standards
- Proven experience managing safety in high-energy environments (electrical, mechanical, commissioning)
- Ability to lead safety efforts across diverse teams and communicate effectively at all levels
- Preferred: Data center / mission-critical project experience
- CSP, CHST, or similar certification
- Experience with commissioning-phase safety and live-system environments
