Mission Area Manager III – Tactical Solutions
About the role
This is a key role within TS Finance Leadership Team, reporting to the TS Finance Director. The role supports one of the mission areas within TS and assumes responsibility for financial matters within that area.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of finance staff, ensuring adequate development, training, and capabilities to support and deliver objectives in support of the TS business.
- Track financial salients, update forecasts, report progress/perform variance analysis, and make recommendations to business leadership, as appropriate.
- Support business operating rhythms, including any new processes for operating reviews and KPI tracking.
- Collaborate with business on strategic planning initiatives.
- Monitor business area project lists monthly to ensure correct project accounting & closeout activities are sufficient.
- Lead the financial aspects of the Request for Bid Approval (RBA) process and serve as key member of contract negotiations team, as applicable.
- Provide financial leadership and review of SOA, Fireform, and Strategic inventory requests.
- Lead the Estimate at Complete (EAC) quarterly reviews and monthly Business Area Reviews (BAR).
- Track Mission Area budgets ensuring any supplemental requests are supported by a sound business case.
- Lead the financial aspects of the annual 5-year Integrated Business Plan (IBP).
- Ensure consistency in financial practices across programs and ensure synthesis and alignment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 12 or more years related experience.
- Advance Degree.
- 12 or more years of relevant experience, Aerospace and Defense (A&D) or similar government contracting environment.
- CPA, CMA, CFA or other equivalent financial certificate/license.

- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
