About the role
The UM-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC) is offering a part-time, student position to assist with general tasks and projects around the EIC and surrounding Environmental Study Area. This position supports the daily operations of the EIC through indoor and outdoor work, including facility upkeep, front-desk staffing, trail support, and other assigned tasks. This is a great opportunity for a student who enjoys working in a nature-based setting, within a small, highly collaborative team, and is interested in supporting the EIC's educational and environmental mission.
Schedule
Flexible part-time hours based on student availability and EIC needs. The EIC building is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday and Friday, with select weekend hours. Schedule is flexible.
Responsibilities
- Facility upkeep and maintenance
- Front-desk staffing
- Trail support and outdoor work
- Assist with various assigned tasks and projects
Requirements
- Currently enrolled UM-Dearborn student
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
- Positive attitude and willingness to help with a variety of tasks
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
- Good communication and data management skills
- Interest in nature
- Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks carefully
Preferred Qualifications
- Eligible for work-study
- Major in environmental science, biology, education, sustainability, or related fields
- Previous experience with outdoor work, maintenance, organizing, or customer service
- Comfortable lifting/carrying light materials and walking on trails or uneven ground
- Availability during some peak hours (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) during the week
