About the role

As a member of the Martin's Family, an MIS Project Manager (MIS PM) manages and oversees all aspects of a technology project to ensure it is completed on-time and on-budget. The MIS PM has overall responsibility for managing scope, schedule, internal staffing and outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. A MIS Project Manager is expected to work with users and subject matter experts to identify business requirements, scope, timelines, and all other supporting project documents, as well as execute a Project in Review at the close of the project. The MIS PM will also oversee or create test cases and execute them to ensure the developed product meets defined requirements. Prepares reports for upper management regarding project status. Possesses strong knowledge of technology and excellent communication skills. May manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

A bachelor's degree is required, and at least 7+ years of experience in the field is required. This position reports to the Applications Development Manager and has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures, relying on experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job. Work is highly independent, and the role may assume a team lead position for the work group.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Develop or update project plans for information technology projects, including objectives, technologies, systems, specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Monitor or track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems.
  • Develop and manage the work breakdown structure (WBS) of information technology projects.
  • Submit project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Direct or coordinate activities of project personnel.
  • Establish and execute a project communication plan.
  • Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of authority to project personnel.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings related to information technology projects.
  • Initiate, review, or approve modifications to project plans.
  • Ensure all required project artifacts are created using approved templates.
  • Ensure thorough development, end-user, and production implementation testing is completed.
  • Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies.
  • Negotiate with project stakeholders or suppliers to obtain resources or materials.
  • Identify the need for initial or supplemental project resources.
  • Coordinate recruitment or selection of project personnel.
  • Identify, review, or select vendors or consultants to meet project needs.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets for information technology projects.
  • Develop implementation plans that include analyses such as cost-benefit or return on investment (ROI).
  • Assess current or future customer needs and priorities through direct communication, surveys, or other methods.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Information Technology or related field.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in the field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Good understanding of programming fundamentals.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.

Skills

  • Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
