Position Summary
This role involves assisting the Minnesota Twins organization by enhancing player and staff performance through interdisciplinary approaches, innovative program design, and strategic implementation. The position also requires participation in ongoing education and fostering a progressive culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement holistic performance enhancement programs for Minor League players under the Minnesota Twins Strength & Conditioning system.
- Participate in continued education opportunities and promote a growth-mindset culture.
- Complete and participate in individualized professional development plans per Director, Strength & Conditioning and Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.
- Integrate with Minor League field staff to improve decision-making processes regarding performance enhancement and physical development.
- Work with Minor League field staff on movement mechanics relevant to baseball skill acquisition.
- Engage in the Team of Teams approach on designated teams to stay ahead in performance enhancement.
- Collaborate with Minor League sports medicine, performance nutrition, performance psychology, and performance science staff on player rehabilitation and return to play protocols.
- Work within the integrated High-Performance staff: Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Performance Science, Performance Psychology, and Performance Nutrition on various initiatives.
- Implement and integrate monthly and weekly movement and performance assessments.
- Integrate innovative technologies pertinent to Strength and Conditioning at the Minor League levels.
- Support Nutrition initiatives for performance fueling considerations at the Minor League Level.
- Create comprehensive long-term development plans integrating physical and skill development.
- Design individual off-season strength and conditioning programs for Minor League players.
- Work with players in the off-season to implement their strength and conditioning programs at Fort Myers Complex or virtually.
Requirement
- CSCS certifications through the NSCA in good standing.
- CPR/AED certifications in good standing.
- A BA or BS in Sports Management, Sports Coaching, Exercise Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Strength & Conditioning Program in Professional Baseball, Collegiate, or a private setting.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong work ethic and willingness to think creatively with an integrative approach.
- Effective interpersonal skills and communication abilities across various departments and personalities.
- Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate and connect with non-English speaking athletes and staff.
- RSCC certification through the NSCA.
- CPSS certification through the NSCA.
- Experience with motion capture and wearable technology systems.
- Experience with FMS / SFMA, FRC, PRI, DNS, or similar principles.
- Experience with Force Plates and VALD technologies.
