This Student Worker position provides support to the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) Operations Unit of the Vaccine Preventable Disease Section of the Minnesota Department of Health. The role assists with processing public inquiries about MIIC immunization records, data entry, and administrative support for MIIC operations, as well as supporting general section functions.
Location: St. Paul
Telework Eligible: Yes (based on unit business needs and supervisory discretion)
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week (flexible schedule, Monday–Friday)
Duration: Anticipated until August 31, 2028, or until the selected candidate completes their educational program, whichever occurs sooner
Responsibilities
- Process inquiries from the public regarding MIIC immunization records
- Perform accurate data entry and data management in computer databases
- Generate summary reports as needed
- Provide administrative support for MIIC operations
- Gather information from multiple sources and collaborate with team members
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
- Communicate clearly with the public, healthcare providers, and internal staff
Requirements
- Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education
- Enrollment in a post-secondary or graduate program (or plan to enroll within three months)
- For credit-granting institutions: minimum of six semester or nine quarter credits (or two or more classes for non-credit or single-credit programs)
- Graduate students: enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation
- Ability to work independently and follow complex instructions
- Successful completion of a background check and employment reference check
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application (MDH does not sponsor work visas or participate in E-Verify)
Qualifications
- Ability to use computer databases for data entry, management, and report generation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience gathering information from multiple sources and collaborating effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer service experience
- Data entry experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with REDCap or statistical software (e.g., R)
Pay
$20.20 - $24.02 per hour
